WOD: 3 1/2 Miles

Warmup
Stetching, joint mobility

Workout
3 1/2 mile road run in Mt Lebanon:
-Start at Washington Rd and Jefferson Dr
-Follow Jefferson down and around to Orchid
-Take Orchid back to Washington Rd
-Take Washington down to Mt Lebanon Blvd
-Follow Mt Lebanon Blvd back to Orchid
-Take Orchid back to Washington Rd again

Results
Actually mapped out a 3 mile run but made a wrong turn and just went with it. Lungs felt pretty good, but definitely felt the hills in my legs. Also had a cramp that would come and go - nothing much more than uncomfortable though.

  1. Good job! Are you enjoying it, or does it feel too much like a chore? Nothing like getting out on the open roads on a nice day. Hills can be killer, if you do them enough though, you'll get used to them.

  2. Joints still hurt a bit, especially going downhill. I think I need to improve my gait, because I think I land pretty hard with each step. I passed a guy on this run who looked like he was running on a cloud (around a mile into my run). Then, as I was driving home, I saw him still running, still floating. I'm probably going to pick up some of those supplements you suggested too - the ones for my joints.

    Anyway, I think the more I run, the more my body will get used to running, and the more I will like it. I do enjoy being outside, seeing the sites, seeing other runners, feeling my lungs work, the music pounding in my ears, my sweat glands working over time, etc...it's just the soreness (joints, feet, cramps etc) I'm not enjoying.
